The leisure mackerel fishery is open all calendar year, with a capture limit established per year concurrently as commercial restrictions.In 2017, the NPFC recognized the Technical Working Group on Chub Mackerel Inventory Assessment (TWG CMSA) and commenced to operate around the conservation and administration of Chub mackerel [10].
